I'm P25,000 richer!

Last Thursday, The Philppine Star celebrated their 25th anniversary. As they turn silver, they invited their friends from the advertising industry to a grand anniversary party.

The event was held at the Rizal Ballroom in Makati Shangri-la. My favorite hotel.

Very grand and beautiful. Sigh. I always find myself in awe whenever I'm there. It always makes me feel like it's my first time in the hotel.

Anyway, my office buddies and I went (of course!). Aside from the fact that it's in Makati Shang (my fave hotel and just a walk away from our office), Philippine Star is known to be very generous in giving out nice raffle prizes.

Last year, almost all of the members from one of our accounts won DSLRs and iPads. This year, we figured they'll be more galante since its their silver anniversary.

In the registration area, we were surprised that they weren't asking for calling cards. We knew that calling cards were needed for the raffle. But we have so much faith in the grand event, so we went on to the Ballroom to see what's happening and get ourselves some foi gras.

The place was jam packed! It had already started with Boy Abunda and Charlene Gonzales hosting. I think they're acknowledging the top clients of Philippine Star. I saw famous politicians like VP Binay, ex-president FVR and Ernesto Maceda, beauty queen Venus Raj, celebrity writers (from Philippine Star, of course), ordinary media agency folks like us plus other guests.

We didn't know where the end of the line for the buffet table ends. But soon, our officemate found the right way to the buffet table.

Such a sad realization that not all of the food in Makati Shang tasted good. I only liked the mushroom turnover. That's all. The scallops were so-so. The foi gras weren't so wow as well. =( The desserts were so forgetable too. (I missed the yummy food in Vivere. Everything in their menu is yummy.) And then there were the no seats available set-up of the event.

But we endured all that since we have faith that the raffle prizes will be all worth it.

When raffle was already on-going, we observed that they picked out pieces of paper from the bowl. My theory was, these were the papers in the registration area where we wrote our names. Some of my friends thought we didn't have a chance to win since the names were pre-selected, thus only the bosses were bound to win.

The raffle prizes were all cash prizes. Starting with P5,000. Then P15,000. And then the P25,000 wherein my name was called. I couldn't believe it at first. But hey, lucky me! =)

My feet were dead tired and I was really tempted to leave after I claimed my prize (very selfish, i know. haha) but I really have a sweet spot for Philippine Star so I stayed even if I had to sacrifice a little more, hehe. The raffle proceeded and names of the winners for the P50,000, P100,000 and the grand prize which is P250,000 were called. Most of the names called went home already so the crowd were really happy and excited since they have more chances in winning. =)

Ai-Ai was the host and she was so funny. Tim Yap was her co-host but his remarks made us all, "Hu-what???!" and rolled our eyes. So corny. He's trying so hard to be funny like Ai Ai but to no avail.

Haha, nanlait pa.

What I did with my money? Well, I already treated one of my best friends, Me-Ann, to a Singaporean fod trip in Orchard Road, Megamall. Our first time to eat in that resto since we don't frequent Megamall and after she treated me to a Bridesmaids screening.

And just yesterday, I treated my sister Bea, her son/my only godson Niccolo, and my mom to Kulinarya in Rockwell. My officemates are surely pressuring me to treat them too but I think that would pass. Haha. =p

Now, how about treating myself?

How about a brand new car in August? ;-)
